Thomas Schemly is ZenFi Networks Director of Carrier Sales and is responsible for the company’s wholesale efforts. Tom has been in the Telecommunications Industry for over 20 Years and holds a BA from Ramapo College with a Double Concentration in Marketing & Management.
Tom has telecom in his blood as his maternal grandfather retired after a long career from Bell Atlantic and his father (who just passed away on 11-5-2020) also began his career with Bell initially climbing poles, advanced to become a Software Specialist with AT&T & Lucent, and eventually retired from Avaya, all of which were from the original breakup of the Bell System.
Tom’s father wasn’t only his best friend, his mentor and hero; he was the biggest influence in his life. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Tom also began his career as a Sales Consultant with Bell Atlantic which was rebranded to Verizon ahead of the MCI WorldCom merger. During his time at Verizon, Tom became very familiar with the internet, phone, connectivity and understanding how to market the importance of underlining infrastructure. After Verizon, Tom took opportunities with Lightpath (now Altice) and Fibertech (now Crown Castle) who were both deploying new fiber assets in the tri-state area. These opportunities allowed him to truly display his skill set for solution selling and designing networks that would be desirable to the largest Financial, Enterprise, Healthcare and University customers. He sharpened his skills outside of the region by working on large international projects with Hibernia (now GTT) and BSO. Cross River Fiber brought Tom back to his roots selling underlying infrastructure.
The merger between Cross River Fiber and ZenFi Networks in 2018 again allowed Tom to find success with very large Financial, Enterprise, Healthcare, Datacenter, and Hyperscale Customers. He is very active at conferences and social gatherings (virtually or in person) where he develops new industry relationships and helps consult with the marketing team on new business initiatives. Tom also enjoys his daily interactions with all the supporting groups within the organization, as well as helping develop new sales representatives as they begin their careers at ZenFi.
Outside of work, Tom lives in New Jersey with his wife, two girls, and two dogs. He spends free time boating, biking, hiking, skiing or just going on family road trips. He also enjoys playing ice hockey, softball and golf.
